ABSTRACT Family farmers are important in the on-farm conservation of cassava, since they maintain distinct ethnovarieties in their plantations. This research aimed to analyze ethnobotanical aspects and the genetic diversity of cassava ethnovarieties maintained by farmers in the Baixada Cuiabana, Mato Grosso state, Brazil, in the Rio dos Couros community. A semi-structured questionnaire was applied for the ethnobotanical characterization of the cassava ethnovarieties. Subsequently, young leaves of the cassava plants were collected for DNA extraction. The ethnobotanical survey identified 29 cassava ethnovarieties, with the most cultivated ones being Pão, Amarelona and Cacau. The farmers characterize the cassavas with the following characteristics: palatability, pulp color, origin and similarities with animals and vegetables. Genetic relationships were observed among the ethnovarieties and five groups were identified, with formation of subgroups. In these groupings, it is possible to highlight the isolation of the Matrinxã, Paraguainha and Broto Roxo ethnovarieties as the most genetically divergent ones.

RESUMO Agricultores familiares são importantes na conservação on farm de mandioca, visto que mantêm em suas plantações distintas etnovariedades. Objetivou-se analisar aspectos etnobotânicos e a diversidade genética de etnovariedades de mandioca mantidas por agricultores da Baixada Cuiabana, Mato Grosso, na comunidade Rio dos Couros. Um questionário semiestruturado foi aplicado para a caracterização etnobotânica das etnovariedades de mandioca. Posteriormente, folhas jovens das mandiocas foram coletadas para extração de DNA. O levantamento etnobotânico identificou 29 etnovariedades, sendo as mais cultivadas a Pão, Amarelona e Cacau. Os agricultores caracterizam as mandiocas com os seguintes caracteres: palatabilidade, cor da polpa, origem e semelhanças com animais e vegetais. Observaram-se relações genéticas entre as etnovariedades e cinco grupos foram identificados, com formação de subgrupos. Nesses agrupamentos, foi possível destacar o isolamento das etnovariedades Matrinxã, Paraguainha e Broto Roxo como as mais divergentes geneticamente.

Abstract The objective of this work was to select maize hybrids using the GGE biplot analysis, as well as to evaluate their stability and adaptability in different environments of the North and Midwest regions of Brazil. Thirty-six maize hybrids were evaluated in 2018, in the following five environments in the Northern and Midwestern regions, respectively: in the municipality of Vilhena, in the state of Rondônia; and in the municipalities of Sorriso, Sinop, Alta Floresta, and Carlinda, in the Northern region of the state of Mato Grosso. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design. The analysis of variance was performed, and adaptability and stability were estimated by the GGE biplot method based on grain yield performance. A significant interaction between genotypes and environments was detected, and the biplot analysis was efficient in explaining 62.74% of the total variation in the first two principal components, with the formation of three macroenvironments. The 1P2227, 'BRS 3042', and 1P2265 hybrids showed high yield, responsiveness, and stability in the evaluated environments. The DKB310VTPRO2 hybrid was the most unstable genotype. The recommended hybrids are: DKB310 for the Sorriso and Vilhena macroenvironment; 1M1810 and 1O2106 for the Carlinda environment; and 1M1807 for the Sinop environment.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi selecionar híbridos de milho, por meio da análise GGE biplot, bem como avaliar sua estabilidade e adaptabilidade em diferentes ambientes das regiões Centro-Oeste e Norte do Brasil. Trinta e seis híbridos de milho foram avaliados em 2018, nos seguintes cinco ambientes das regiões Norte e Centro-Oeste, respectivamente: no município de Vilhena, no estado de Rondônia; e nos municípios de Sorriso, Sinop, Alta Floresta e Carlinda, na região norte do estado de Mato Grosso. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos completos ao acaso. Realizou-se a análise de variância, e estimaramse a adaptabilidade e a estabilidade pelo método GGE biplot com base na produtividade. Detectou-se interação significativa entre genótipos e ambientes, e a análise biplot foi eficiente para explicar 62,74% da variação total nos dois primeiros componentes principais, com a formação de três macroambientes. Os híbridos 1P2227, 'BRS 3042' e 1P2265 apresentam alta produtividade, capacidade de resposta e estabilidade nos ambientes avaliados. O híbrido DKB310VTPRO2 foi o genótipo mais instável. Os híbridos recomendados são: DKB310 para o macroambiente Sorriso e Vilhena; 1M1810 e 1O2106 para o ambiente Carlinda; e 1M1807 para o ambiente Sinop.

Resumo Este estudo objetivou caracterizar a morfoanatomia, histoquímica e fitoquímica dos órgãos vegetativos de Hymenea courbaril, visando detectar estruturas secretoras ou células secretoras que armazenam metabólitos secundários, cujas atribuições conferem potencial medicinal à espécie. A coleta do material vegetal foi realizada em indivíduos nativos de H. courbaril no município de Alta Floresta, MT. O material botânico (folíolos e caule) foi fixado, foram realizadas secções transversais e paradérmicas nos órgãos, montadas em lâminas histológicas e o material fresco foi submetido a testes histoquímicos e fitoquímicos. Foram detectados canais de secreção no folíolo e caule de H. courbaril, a caracterização fito-histoquímica deu positivo para metabólitos secundários como taninos, esteroides, flavonoides, compostos fenólicos, lipídios, saponinas e glicosídeos, a presença destes compostos pode conferir à espécie atividades biológicas importantes no tratamento de diversos tipos de doenças. Além disso, tais substâncias desempenham um importante papel ecológico de manutenção e continuidade da espécie na natureza, como mecanismos contra a herbivoria e a desidratação.

Abstract This study aimed to characterize the morphology, histochemistry and phytochemistry of the vegetative organs of Hymenaea courbaril, aiming to detect secretory structures and secretory cells that store secondary metabolites, whose attributions confer medicinal potential to the species. The collection of plant material was carried out in native individuals of H. courbaril in the municipality of Alta Floresta, MT. The plant material (leaflets and stem) was fixed, transverse and paradermic sections were performed on the organs, mounted on histological slides, and the fresh material was submitted to histochemical and phytochemical tests. Secretion channels were detected in the leaflet and stem of H. courbaril, the phyto-histochemical characterization proved positive for secondary metabolites such as tannins, steroids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, lipids, saponins and glycosides, the presence of these compounds may confer important biological activities in the treatment of various types of diseases. In addition, such substances present an important ecological role in the maintenance and continuity of the species in nature as mechanisms against herbivory and dehydration.

RESUMO O jatobá (Hymenaea courbaril L.) é uma espécie que apresenta importância ecológica e ocorre em diferentes regiões geográficas do Brasil. Conhecer e avaliar a existência de locais com maior variabilidade genética pode auxiliar em programas e ações de conservação. Neste contexto, o presente estudo objetivou avaliar a diversidade genética e a estrutura em populações naturais de jatobá com ocorrência na Amazônia mato-grossense por meio de marcadores ISSR. Foram amostrados 54 indivíduos em 3 populações, sendo uma no município de Marcelândia (MA=24) e duas no município de Alta Floresta (Comunidade Central AF=17 e Pista do Cabeça PC=13 indivíduos). DNA genômico total foi extraído de tecido foliar pelo método CTAB. Os 54 indivíduos foram genotipados com 10 primers ISSR. Foram amplificados um total de 110 fragmentos, sendo 78,2% polimórficos. Os maiores índices de diversidade foram encontrados na população de MA (H=0.25; I=0.37 e %P=65.45). A distância genética foi maior entre as populações dos dois municípios (0.17 entre MA e AF; 0.16 entre MA e PC). A análise de variância molecular (AMOVA) indicou que 31.79% da variância total está entre populações e 68.21% dentro de populações. Há diversidade genética nas populações nativas de jatobá na Amazônia mato-grossense. Recomenda-se que sejam preservados indivíduos de ambas as populações, a fim de garantir a manutenção da variabilidade genética e a conservação efetiva da espécie na Amazônia mato-grossense.

ABSTRACT Jatobá (Hymenaea courbaril L.) is a species that shows ecological importance and occurs in different geographic regions in Brazil. Knowing and evaluating the existence of places with higher genetic variability can help in conservation programs and actions. In this context, the present study aimed to evaluate the genetic diversity and structure in natural populations of Jatobá with occurrence in Mato Grosso Amazon through ISSR markers. Fifty-four individuals were sampled in three populations, being one in the municipality of Marcelândia (MA=24) and two in the municipality of Alta Floresta (Comunidade Central AF=17 and Pista do Cabeça PC=13 individuals). Total genomic DNA was extracted from the leaf tissue by the CTAB method. The 54 individuals were genotyped with 10 ISSR primers. A total of 110 fragments were amplified, being 78.2% polymorphic. The greatest diversity indices were found in the population from MA (H=0.25; I=0.37 and %P=65.45). The genetic distance was higher among the populations of the two municipalities (0.17 between MA and AF; 0.16 between MA and PC). The analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) indicated that 31.79 % of the total variance is among populations and 68.21 % within populations. There is genetic diversity in native populations of Jatobá in Mato Grosso Amazon. We recommend that individuals from both populations be preserved, in order to ensure the maintenance of genetic variability and the effective conservation of species in Mato Grosso Amazon.

Resumo As raízes da mandioca são ricas em carboidratos e amplamente consumidas em todo o mundo. Objetivou-se, neste estudo, avaliar características morfológicas e culinárias de quatro etnovariedades de mandioca (Cacau branca, Cacau roxa, Cacau amarela e Mandioca pão), em diferentes épocas de colheita. As características avaliadas foram: forma da raiz, cor da película, textura da epiderme, cor do córtex, cor da polpa, descascamento da película e do córtex, tempo de cozimento, padrão de massa cozida e deterioração pós-colheita das raízes. As etnovariedades exibiram variação fenotípica quanto às características morfológicas. A Cacau branca e a Cacau roxa apresentaram descascamento fácil nas três primeiras épocas de colheita. O tempo de cocção variou de ‘bom’ a ‘ruim’ entre as etnovariedades, sendo que a Cacau roxa apresentou o menor tempo de cozimento (15 min), aos seis meses, e a Cacau amarela, o maior tempo (35 min), aos 10 e 12 meses. A Cacau branca e a Cacau roxa apresentaram maior nota média quanto à classificação de massa cozida, sendo as mais indicadas para utilização como mandioca de mesa. Quanto às características ‘tempo de cocção’ e ‘qualidade da massa cozida’, as raízes das quatro etnovariedades, colhidas aos seis e oito meses pós-plantio, apresentaram-se ideais para o consumo de mesa. O tempo de cozimento apresentou aumento crescente de acordo com a permanência das plantas no campo. As etnovariedades Cacau amarela e Mandioca pão são as mais indicadas para cultivos que visem à comercialização, pois apresentaram, em todas as épocas de colheita, menor susceptibilidade à deterioração.

Abstract Cassava roots are rich in carbohydrates and widely consumed throughout the world. The objective of this study was to evaluate the morphological and culinary characteristics of four cassava ethnovarieties (Cacau branca, Cacau roxa, Cacau amarela and Mandioca pão) at different harvesting times. The characteristics evaluated were: root shape, peel colour, epidermis texture, cortex colour, pulp colour, removal of the peel and cortex, cooking time, standard cooked mass and post-harvest root deterioration. The ethnovarieties exhibited phenotypic variation of the morphological characteristics. Cacau branca and Cacau roxa were easy to peel in the first three harvesting seasons. The cooking time ranged from 'good' to 'bad' amongst the ethnovarieties, Cacau roxa showing the shortest cooking time (15 min) in the sixth month and Cacau amarela showing the longest cooking time (35 min) in the tenth and twelfth months of harvest. Cacau branca and Cacau roxa showed high average values for cooked mass, showing that they were more suitable for use as table cassava. As for the cooking time and cooked mass quality, the roots of the four ethnovarieties, harvested in the six and eight months after planting, were ideal for table consumption. The cooking time increased according to the permanence of the plants in the field. The Cacau amarela and Mandioca pão ethnovarieties were the most suitable for commercial crops because they showed lower susceptibility to deterioration in all harvest seasons.
